The D14 sign was originally made in a previous Disorient project. For 2022 I redesigned its control system using 9 hand-assembled prototype boards each with a Pixeblaze V3 Standard and Output Expander.

The 9 individual letters form a wireless, distributed lighting system without a single point of total failure. A Raspberry Pi creates an access point which all controllers join, and receive pattern/time control signals from the orchestrator.

Patterns are stored and executed locally per controller. Live coding can be done wirelessly using any web browser. Once the changes are ready, the orchestrator can broadcast the updates to the rest of the network.
